【摘要】:Thistestmethodisdesignedtoyieldtensilefatiguedataformaterialspecifications,researchanddevelopment,qualityassurance,andstructuraldesignandanalysis.Theprimarytestresultisthefatiguelifeofthetestspecimenunderaspecificloadingandenvironmentalcondition.Replicatetestsmaybeusedtoobtainadistributionoffatiguelifeforspecificmaterialtypes,laminatestackingsequences,environments,andloadingconditions.Guidanceinstatisticalanalysisoffatiguelifedata,suchasdeterminationoflinearizedstresslife(S-N)orstrain-life(x03B5;-N)curves,canbefoundinPracticeE739.Thistestmethodcanbeutilizedinthestudyoffatiguedamageinapolymermatrixcompositesuchastheoccurrenceofmicroscopiccracks,fiberfractures,ordelaminations.3Thespecimenrsquo;residualstrengthorstiffness,orboth,maychangeduetothesedamagemechanisms.Thelossinstiffnessmaybequantifiedbydiscontinuingcyclicloadingatselectedcycleintervalstoobtainthequasi-staticaxialstress-straincurveusingmodulusdeterminationproceduresfoundinTestMethodD3039/D3039M.ThelossinstrengthassociatedwithfatiguedamagemaybedeterminedbydiscontinuingcyclicloadingtoobtainthestaticstrengthusingTestMethodD3039/D3039M.Note18212;Thistestmethodmaybeusedasaguidetoconducttension-tensionvariableamplitudeloading.Thisinformationcanbeusefulintheunderstandingoffatiguebehaviorofcompositestructuresunderspectrumloadingconditions,butisnotcoveredinthistestmethod..1.1Thistestmethoddeterminesthefatiguebehaviorofpolymermatrixcompositematerialssubjectedtotensilecyclicloading.Thecompositematerialformsarelimitedtocontinuous-fiberordiscontinuous-fiberreinforcedcompositesforwhichtheelasticpropertiesarespeciallyorthotropicwithrespecttothetestdirection.Thistestmethodislimitedtounnotchedtestspecimenssubjectedtoconstantamplitudeuniaxialin-planeloadingwheretheloadingisdefinedintermsofatestcontrolparameter.1.2Thistestmethodpresentstwoprocedureswhereeachdefinesadifferenttestcontrolparameter.1.2.1ProcedureA-Asysteminwhichthetestcontrolparameteristheload(stress)andthemachineiscontrolledsothatthetestspecimenissubjectedtorepetitiveconstantamplitudeloadcycles.Inthisprocedure,thetestcontrolparametermaybedescribedusingeitherengineeringstressorappliedloadasaconstantamplitudefatiguevariable.1.2.2ProcedureB-Asysteminwhichthetestcontrolparameteristhestrainintheloadingdirectionandthemachineiscontrolledsothatthetestspecimenissubjectedtorepetitiveconstantamplitudestraincycles.Inthisprocedure,thetestcontrolparametermaybedescribedusingengineeringstrainintheloadingdirectionasaconstantamplitudefatiguevariable.1.3ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Withinthetexttheinch-poundunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththisstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
